Course Policy
Academic Integrity
You are expected to abide by the Georgia Tech Honor Code. You are allowed (and are encouraged) to discuss the course material with other students, but need to solve problems in the homeworks and exams on your own. You are responsible for understanding and being able to explain on solutions that you submit. Suspected honor code violations will be referred to the Office of the Dean of Students and the Georgia Tech Office of Student Integrity.
Late Assignment Policy
Each student is granted one automatic late day for the semester, which can be used for any individual assignment (excluding exams) without penalty. Beyond this, late assignments will incur a 10% deduction of the total available points for that assignment per 24-hour period (or part thereof). Assignments may be submitted up to 72 hours (3 days) late, with a maximum penalty of 30% of the total points. No late submission is accepted for exams.
Makeup Exam Policy
Makeup exams are generally not offered. For the in-class quizzes, no makeup quizzes will be offered. Instead, we will count your top 2 of 3 quiz scores. If you must miss the Midterm due to a documented and legitimate reason (e.g., an emergency or IAA), please contact the instructor as soon as possible. Makeup arrangements will be considered only in exceptional circumstances. No adjustments will be made for unexcused absences.
Special Accommodation
Please refer to Georgia Tech’s Office of Disability Services for accommodation policies, especially the student guide and documentation pages on this website.
Please note that accomodations such as additional time to complete assignments are NOT automatically granted. Implementation of the accommodation may require a discussion with instructor prior to the assignment due date. Students failing to comply with the requirements set forth in Disability Services will not receive accommodation.
Generative AI Policy
Understanding how and when to use generative AI tools is an increasingly important skill. However, the goal of course assignments is for you to develop and demonstrate your own understanding and skills.
For writing assignments, you may use generative AI tools to polish or revise work that you have written, such as improving grammar, clarity, or organization. You may also use AI tools to help you understand concepts or brainstorm ideas. However, you may not use AI to generate new content that you submit as your own, including substantive portions of an answer, analysis, or report. A good rule of thumb is that the ideas, arguments, and initial written content should be your own; AI may help you improve how they are expressed.
For programming assignments, the permitted use of generative AI will be specified in each assignment. Some assignments may allow or encourage AI-assisted programming, while others may restrict it. You are responsible for following the AI-use policy stated in the individual assignment.
