Course Policy
Academic Integrity
You are expected to abide by the Georgia Tech Honor Code. You are allowed (and are encouraged) to discuss the course material with other students, but need to solve problems in the homeworks and exams on your own. You are responsible for understanding and being able to explain on solutions that you submit. Suspected honor code violations will be referred to the Office of the Dean of Students and the Georgia Tech Office of Student Integrity.
Late Assignment Policy
Each student is granted one automatic late day for the semester, which can be used for any assignment (excluding exams) without penalty. Beyond this, late assignments will incur a 10% deduction of the total available points for that assignment per 24-hour period (or part thereof). Assignments may be submitted up to 72 hours (3 days) late, with a maximum penalty of 30% of the total points. No late submission is accepted for exams.
Makeup Exam Policy
No makeup exams will be offered for Exam 1. If you miss Exam 1 due to a documented and legitimate reason (e.g., illness, emergency), your Exam 2 score will replace the missed exam under the following adjustment: we will assume you perform at the same percentile rank in Exam 2 as you would have in Exam 1. For example, if your Exam 2 score places you in the 80th percentile of the class, we will assign you a grade for Exam 1 that corresponds to the 80th percentile of Exam 1’s distribution. No adjustments will be made for unexcused absences.
Generative AI Policy
Understanding how and when to use generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, DALL-E) is quickly emerging as an important skill for future professions. The use of generative AI is encouraged with certain tasks and with attribution: you can choose to use AI tools to help understand concepts, brainstorm projects or revise existing work you have written. However, you should not use generative AI tools to complete the programming assignments.
Your use of generative AI tools must be properly documented and cited for any work submitted in this course. In your assignments, we expect you to clearly attribute contents generated by the AI tool (e.g., AI-generated text appears in a different colored font, quoted directly in the text, or use an in-text parenthetical citation).
Special Accommodation
Please refer to Georgia Tech’s Office of Disability Services for accommodation policies, especially the student guide and documentation pages on this website. Students failing to comply with the requirements set forth in Disability Services will not receive accommodation.
